Ghanchakkar (2013) - Movie Review

Ghanchakkar is the kind of film you'd want to watch over a lazy weekend when you have nothing better to do.

Sanju (Emraan Hashmi) is lured into one last grand heist before he gives up his career as a criminal. He, along with Pandit (Rajesh Sharma) and Idris (Namit Das) decide to loot a bank. Lest anyone gets suspicious, they decide to meet up 3 months later and divide the looted money among themselves. The story really begins when
Sanju loses his yadasht and is clueless where he has dumped the 10-crore suitcase. The film has you thinking all the way to the end.

The sad part is the script fails to tap the potential of actors like Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi and Rajesh Sharma. Rajesh Sharma was brilliant as the pevert mamaji in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken KhuranaHere he doesn't have much to do but pulls off well, given the limitations of this script. Vidya delivers as the loud, dramatic Punjabi wife. Some of Namit Das' supposedly funny dialogues turn out sloppy.

Even though the film feels slightly stretched sometimes, it isn't predictable.

Overall, it's a one-time watch on the DVD.

Waiting to hear your thoughts on the film in the comments below :)
