Ship of Theseus Preview

The title intrigued me at first. The theatrical only got me more curious.

The title Ship of Theseus actually refers to the Theseus’ paradox, in which the Greek philosopher Plutarch inquires whether a ship that has been restored by replacing all its parts, remains the same ship.
The film explores the same question through stories of a visually impaired photographer, a monk who has been diagnosed with a liver cirrhosis and a stockbroker who has just had his kidney transplanted.

Directed by Anand Gandhi, SOT premiered last year in September at the Toronto Film Festival and subsequently at various film fests abroad, winning much recognition in the West. Kiran Rao saw SOT at one of these festivals and decided to bring it to India. The film releases here this Friday (July 19).
